Welcome to the sixteenth net worth report here at NMI!
While November and early December were still pretty crappy in terms of the stock market, overall, November was another great month for my side jobs!
I got a hefty bonus check for my consignment store side hustle, and…well – I’ll let the tweet below share the good news!
Yes, I am officially a freelancer! And this is a real job that actually pays well!
I’ll be editing content for a popular finance/self-improvement blog. That’s all I’m going to reveal for now. 😉
I couldn’t be more thrilled. Hopefully this will open the door for me to do more freelance jobs throughout the year. Maybe this could become a real full-time job? Who knows. I’m just so happy to have the opportunity.
OK, now that that’s out of the way, let’s get to the numbers.
For those new to my net worth reports, I’d like to give you a few minor details. I get paid semi-monthly, which means I get paid on the 15th and the last day of the month.
Sometimes my money isn’t made available to me until two or three days after the month has already changed, so in order to ensure the most accurate net worth reports, I will always include both incomes. As such, my reports will be made available on the third or fourth day of the following month, possibly a few days after.
In rare circumstances in which I fail to get paid on time, I will either wait until that money is made available to report or I will include it in the following month’s net worth report.
You can find the latest and/or past reports here.
These figures are accurate as of the end of the day, December 11th.
MY INCOME
JOB INCOME
I got paid on time again this month. October and November were fantastic months for us, which was much needed. We haven’t been this busy for a long time. I hope this continues.
SIDE INCOME
For the seventh month since doing these reports I have some additional side income to report!
My Etsy store sold $21.55 worth of merchandise in November. So not much.
I also received two checks totaling $952.80 for all my recently sold items at the consignment store! That is my biggest haul yet, and if I can keep this up, I can potentially add $5,000 to $10,000 worth of additional income to my coffers!
Here are all of the items that sold, and what they sold for:
And here’s the proof it happened!
TOTAL INCOME
MY ASSETS
SAVINGS
Because my savings account has been steadily going down, I decided I’d try to save a majority of my income this month, from both my job income and my side hustle income.
INVESTMENTS
As you can see, November wasn’t a great month for my investments. Crypto continues its mighty fall (don’t even mention my crypto-experiment, I’ve all but given up on that) while VTSAX, VTI and VEU all took a little bit of a hit.
My Fundrise account continues to increase, drip by drip.
Remember, when it comes to cryptos, never part with more money than you’re willing to lose! I’ve learned that the hard way!
Here’s a link to my article on cryptocurrency that every beginner should check out before jumping in.
*I decided to try an experiment in which I purchased 43 different cryptocurrencies (worth about $900.00 total) in the beginning of 2018 with the intent of holding onto them for one full year. You can check out the initial post here. I will be posting updates to that portfolio around the 15th of each month. Because my crypto-experiment is doing so crappy, I’ve basically given up on it, and most likely won’t do another report until it reaches the end of the experiment.
MY LIABILITIES
So…some of that debt has come creaking back!
A pretty big chunk of that was from purchasing Christmas presents. Those I’ll be paying off with my next check, in addition to saving a little more and paying down that Citibank card. Glad I still have some breathing room with the Chase card at 0% interest, and that at least THAT balance seems to keep going down.
My debt also increased a little because last month I took a pretty big chunk out of my savings to pay down debt, so this month I was more focused on replenishing that savings.
I really recommend automating all of your bills, especially if they allow you to pay with a credit card. You set it up once and you don’t have to worry again. The only ones I don’t automate are accounts that need a checking account – you want to be sure the money is in there before it gets debited.
MY NET WORTH
A decrease of – $877.13!
Boo. This is the first official down month, two months in a row. Yay for new achievements?
I suppose I should just be happy with the recent volatility that I’m not down even further. That and being happy that my side hustles can make up for it.
Maybe next month will be a green month?
CONCLUSION
And that wraps up another net worth report here at NMI!
I can’t believe it – Christmas is right around the corner, and then 2019 – which I’m hoping will be a doozy as far as productivity goes.
Where has the year gone?
