Hey there!

I’m so happy to announce the very first “Money Milestone” post here at NMI!

In the last two days, I officially hit over $40,000.00 worth of assets across all of my accounts!  Woohoo!

I’m pretty proud of myself.  Based on these numbers, I have a little over a year’s worth of my current salary socked away; with my current spending habits ($15,357.24 per year), that’s over two and a half years of expenses covered, which means I am 1/10th of the way to being financially independent!

That means I also officially accomplished one of my finance goals for 2017!  Woohoo!

SOME CAVEATS

All is not perfect, however.  I really, really, really need to get that debt down.  I’ve been sacrificing paying it down in favor of increasing my assets, which probably isn’t the best way to go.  It also didn’t help that I used a credit card to pay for some of my crypto assets over the last couple of months.  It’s great acquiring the increase in assets, but bad when it’s finally time to pay the bill.

Since I’ve hit my savings goal for the year, I’m going to funnel practically all of my money towards my regular bills and debt.  I should be able to get a good start before the year ends.  Once tax time rolls around, I may take a little chunk of the refund and put it towards some debt (or save.  ‘Cause I like to save).

While I still have a long way to go on my FI journey, I’m so happy that I’m starting to see real, measurable progress.  I’m almost at the half-a-hundred-grand mark, which is crazy!  Just last year, when I started this process, I had about $16,000.00 saved, with not a dime invested.  This time next year, I’m hoping to have over sixty grand saved, with over $50,000.00 invested.  It’s all a slow, steady process!

Stay tuned for future milestones, and thanks so much for reading!
